Dr. Nipa A. Desai is a distinguished civil engineer specializing in highway and transportation engineering with over 25 years of experience across industry, academia, research, and academic administration.

She currently serves as the Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology and Director of Sigma Institute of Engineering at Sigma University. Her career reflects a strong blend of technical expertise, research engagement, and leadership in engineering education.

Prior to joining academia, she gained valuable industry experience working with architectural, design, construction, and consultancy firms, contributing to infrastructure development and project planning.

She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil and Highway Engineering from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda and earned her Ph.D. from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology Surat with research focused on travel mode shift behaviour related to mass transit systems in metropolitan cities.
